Player Evaluations: England Triumph Sealed by Kane's Double in International Qualifier

During a commanding display, the English national team clinched one more triumph against their opponents, with multiple players turning in standout performances during the match.

First-choice Lineup

The goalkeeper Not a save required in the first half until forced to intervene from Arbër Hoxha’s curling effort. A sliding intervention against Qazim Laci demonstrated excellent reading of the game. Six out of ten

The debutant Challenged against the opposition's biggest threat in Hoxha. Played more centrally early on but moved out wide once Saka came on. 7

John Stones Advanced forward with the ball at his feet, as he has done before. Sometimes lacked urgency in possession with the experiment was shelved at half-time. Six

The tall defender Always dangerous at set pieces, typically, but may be another option to his teammate in defense rather than his partner. A loose distribution after the break nearly resulted in an opener from Albania. 6/10

The young full-back Another assured showing from the rising star following his first cap versus another side. A teammate was unable to take the most of an exquisite backheel behind their defense. His position is firmly his at this stage. Seven

Adam Wharton A debut start for his country. Somewhat loose on the ball though his inswinging deliveries posed a danger. A useful game manager available to the manager to call upon against sides that sit back. Cautioned for a poorly timed tackle. 6

The midfielder Crosses from dead balls and set-plays created chances. Had freedom to move in left midfield but was in an offside position when the ball arrived in front of goal. Given a well-earned substitution on the hour mark. Six

Jude Bellingham Functioned in a forward position on the right and contributed with dirty work. Displayed glimpses of brilliance but scuffed an effort over. Substituted in the closing stages for a teammate, a fellow player, following a yellow card. 7/10

The winger Was presented with the team's top opening in the opening period, his shot well saved from the opposing goalkeeper. As Quansah hanging back, it fell to him to offer an outlet on the right yet his deliveries from wide areas were hit and miss. Replaced late in the match. Six

Harry Kane The decisive figure netting two more goals at international level. The first a typical close-range tap-in and the second an excellent headed goal after peeling away off his defender. At 32, he continues to improve and England are strong contenders in the upcoming tournament when he's in the team. 8/10

The attacker Found it tough to make an impact on the left flank. Was presented with a decent opportunity after being played in from a teammate yet Strakosha kept it out. Rashford produced a bigger effect when substituted. Five

Bench Players

  • Foden (replacing a teammate on 63 minutes) Looked lively connecting well with Kane in a preferred position, Six
  • Saka (for the winger at the 63-minute mark) Missed opportunities although his set-piece created the opener, 6/10
  • Rashford (replacing Bowen 75) Energetic after coming on assisting Kane’s second via an excellent ball into the area, Seven
  • Anderson (on for Wharton in the 75th minute) Appears comfortable already, 6/10
  • Morgan Rogers (replacing the star 84) Insufficient minutes to make an impact, 6
